Mark,
Great to hear from you again! I'm glad that you have added the Moviefone "Better Off Dead" 25th anniversary tribute to this site. This is what I saw on the AOL news cycle before my last posting. It'll be interesting to see if Diane's autobiography will include a forward by Savage Steve Holland (he would be my pick, considering how much he has worked with Diane).
There's more good news: Apparently there's a buzz being generated in regards to Diane and her career. According to facebook, Diane's fan sites are growing in popularity - it's a beautiful thing!
Well, that's it for now. I need to get back to watching the Chargers - Chiefs Monday Night Football game.
I hope you're doing well and I'll keep you posted on any more news concerning Diane Franklin fan sites. I have a feeling that you'll be hearing from more of Diane's fans very soon! Take care.
Your Friend, Matt
Mark,
I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone now. Just as I turn off the computer to continue watching the football game last night, it suddenly occured to me that I misspelled "foreword" in the last posting. I can see the headlines now... "New Study Finds That Watching Sports On T.V. Causes Illiteracy"(lol). Maybe I should've used the word "introduction" instead... Oh,well. I still think that Savage Steve Holland would make an excellent choice for writing an introduction to Diane's autobiography, that's if she decides to release it in book form.
Well, that's it for now. Have a great day. Your Friend, Matt
Hi Matt, Im glad to hear Dianes popularity is growing, I hope its mainly down to my site, lol, not bragging or anything but its a hell of a good fan site haha, so far ive had almost a quater of a million hits which I may say is quit a feat and shows how popular Diane is,the only thing that bugs me about other so called sites that have info on is that they take pictures from mine that I created !!! arghh lol oh well, Take care mate, Mark
Mark,
First of all, I just wanted to say hello and I hope that you're doing well.
I need to make yet another correction to a previous posting. I credited Savage Steve Holland as being the creator of "Encyclopedia Brown" when it was Donald J. Sobol. However, Holland was the director of the HBO "Encyclopedia Brown" series, so I did get that part right! lol
There's nothing new to report in regards to Diane's other fan sites, which is kind of strange. It's as though whatever momentum was building in regards to Diane suddenly subsided! But at least there are new video postings on youtube that feature Diane in them.
Well, that's all for now. I think I'll put some Rush albums in my CD player and chill out for a while ("Hemispheres" sounds like a good start, lol). Have a great week!
Your Friend, Matt
I swear I just finished watching Better off dead and laughed like it was the first time watching it back in 85. Brings back great memories. I have come to the conclusion that there is no way even by today's standards to make an 80's movie like this one. The music, clothes, and everything were all in that time of the moment. Wish I could go back and re-live those magical 80's. Thank you Diane for playing such a great part and making me laugh all over again. Thanks Denis.
Having just watched Better Off Dead for the hundredth time, and being a product of the 80's, I, like many others, still wish I could have had the opportunity to know someone as sweet and beautiful as Diane. Her personality shone through in every character she portrayed, and her smile still makes me melt. Her portrayal of Karen in Last Am Virgin still makes me smile and cry...Always a class act, and I hope to see her talented acting ability on show in the future...
