Hi everyone,
How are you all ? I hope well! Just a quick message. I will be doing a Q & A at the Silent Theater on Fairfax in Los Angeles, CA for the film "Better Off Dead" at 7:30 on Sat. August 14th. It should be really fun since more of the cast should be there as well as the director.I hope to see you all there..

Wish I could make it. When are you going to do an autograph show in the N.Y. area?
To Diane:
Thank you for the information and I hope you have a lot of fun. Unfortunately I can't attend the Q and A event for one simple reason: I live in Florida and I'm afraid that I would have to close my savings account in order to travel to California just to ask you and the other cast members questions... Ah, the joys of living in a bad economy! (lol)
I hope that your autobiography is coming along okay and I hope to see you working again in the not - too - distant future. But most important of all, it's great to hear from you again - thank you!
Matt
This sounds great Diane, I wish I could make it. When are you going to do an East Coast appearance?
To Mark:
Hello again. Before I begin, I have to clarify something... I made an error in spelling Harley Quinn's name in my last posting to you. Mind you, I know it's somewhat trivial, but it's been nagging at me nevertheless.
Anyway, it's great to read a new message from Diane! I'm glad she's doing well and will be attending another showing of "Better Off Dead" in the L.A. area. I get the impression that "B.O.D." is her personal favorite as far as her movie career goes, which is understandable. Still, I'd love to see her in a new movie, especially a blockbuster (a cameo appearance in the next Batman sequel would be fantastic, but my opinion is biased in that regard, obviously - lol).
But no matter what future production Diane will be involved in, it will be worth watching because she'll give more than 100% to whatever character she plays.
Speaking of "Batman", I also made a mistake on the date of the last comic convention that I told you about in an earlier posting (it was August 8th). I had a lot of fun and I've posted some new photos on my blog if you're interested. I was able to get a photo of the Batmobile that was used in "Batman Returns" (!!!)
Well, that's it for now. I hope you're doing okay and I also hope that Diane will have some news in her next posting about her upcoming autobiography. Have a great weekend and take care -Matt.
To Mark:
It's me again. I just realized something. I need to make a couple of corrections regarding my idea for a "Monique" T-shirt. First, Diane was throwing pears - not grapefruit. Second, Monique's last name is "Junet"... Oh, well.
Once again, I hope you're doing okay and I hope to hear from you soon. -Matt
To Mark, Diane or whoever else would like to read this...
I discovered yet another foible in one of my last postings. I said "whatever future production Diane will be involved in". What I meant to say was "whatever future production Diane IS involved in". I guess I am a perfectionist to a fault after all! (lol)
But that wasn't all that I wanted to share this morning. A couple of days ago, I showed my mother a youtube clip of a recent interview with Diane that was taped at an autograph signing show (my guess is that it was the one back in April - Diane would know).
Anyway, as we're watching the interview, I mention to my mother that Diane used to be a model and that she was a REAL "knockout". My mother's response: "Well, she still looks like a beautiful woman to me". Even though I'm 43 years old, my mother still knows how to make me feel like an idiot sometimes (lol) - God bless her.
Well, I just thought I'd share this for whoever wants to read it. Have a great day and, in the words of Ric Ocasek, "Let the good times roll. Let them make you a clown".

Hi Diane,
I am such a big fan of this movie and would have loved to attend this screening/q&a. Unfortunately I live on the East Coast and couldnt afford the trip. Do you kno if there are any plans to do something like this on the East Coast (Philly, New York, Baltimore)?
Even if not, have you considered appearing at some of the East Coast movie conventions. There is one coming up in Maryland next month called "Monstermania" and another big one in October called "Chiller Theatre" (google their websites). Would you please consider attending one show as a guest as many of your East Coast fans would love the chance to meet you.
Thanks,
Cee
Matt, thanks for your latest message, I always find them very interesting, keep up the good work buddy
To Mark:
A VERY special delivery arrived in my mailbox today. I received an autographed photo from Diane!!! It reads as follows... "Dear Matt, Thanks for the great letters! You're very funny too! Lots of Love, Diane Franklin".
Considering the fact that not once have I asked Diane for any kind of momento from her, I'm not only grateful for her acknowledgement of me as one of her fans, I'm also genuinely honored to be one of her fans as well.
To Diane:
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to send me such a fantastic gift. As long as I can make you laugh, I'm more than happy to be a jester in your court (free of charge, of course lol).
Once again, thank you. Sincerely,
Matt.
To Diane:
I was so happy to receive an autographed photo from you in the mail yesterday that I forgot to mention in my last posting how much I appreciate the fact that you were willing to take the time to read the letters that I sent to you. The irony is that if it weren't for those two letters, I probably wouldn't have received such a memorable gift from you in return.
Well, I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for not mentioning how much I appreciate the time that you were willing to take out of your schedule to read those letters. If it's any consolation to you, I'm going to place the photo in a frame and set it somewhere in my living room not just as a souvenir, but as a reminder not to make the same mistake twice with you or anyone else, for that matter.
Once again, thank you. -Matt
P.S.
I also misspelled the word "memento" in my last posting as well as the word "misspelled" in one of my previous postings - now THAT is irony! (lol)
So I go to my computer tonight, and what should appear as one of the headlines on the AOL news cycle?... A feature on the 25th anniversary of "Better Off Dead"!
Maybe it's just me, but I have a feeling that there's going to be more long - overdue attention given not just to B.O.D., but to this fan site as well (I sure hope so - it gets lonely in here sometimes, lol).
Mark, thank you once again for creating this site and I genuinely hope that more fans of Diane will check it out to see what a GREAT job you have done and continue to do in keeping Diane's name in the spotlight - where it belongs.
Your Friend and Fellow Diane Franklin Fan, Matt.
Hi Matt, thanks for your postings, I've added a link sent to me from Diane for the latest interview re B.O.D posted on moviefone, check it out its pretty good, keep up the comments mate they are always welcome
Hi Mark,
This is Cee from a few postings ago that inquired about any possible East Coast "Better Off Dead" Screenings with the cast.
Im really kicking myself tht I couldnt make the last show, but I decided that even if they do another one in Los Angeles, im just going to have to dig in the savings account and eat the cost of making it happen in order to be there. Have you happened to hear if another one is coming up for the 25th anniversary?
If not, would you be so kind to ask Diane if she is aware of any "BOD" Q&A screenings coming up (or just an appearance by her at a convention) anytime soon. Sorry for the repetitive nature of my question, but I am a big fan of the movie and of hers as well.
Last question: How do I go about obtaining an autograph from Diane?
Best Regards,
Cee
Hi Cee, thanks for your message, if you look down the left hand side of my blog you will find the addy to write to Diane, send a stamped addressed envelope to the address and Im sure you will get something nice from Diane, her fans normally do, cheers. Mark
Just watched BOD with the family this weekend. I think it's one of the best silly teenage comedies ever made and of course I've had a severe crush on Diane since I was a youngster.
The kids loved the show and I came online to see if Diane has done anything recently and it's a pleasure to see that she is as beautiful as ever! (and funny too apparently!)
Thanks to Mark for this site with so much great info.

Jim thanks for the kind comments, yes Diane is alive and very well and still busy, she reads all the comments from her fans and sometimes even replies to them personaly, keep poping back for latest info on Diane. Mark
